Our Mission

To present the Gospel in such a way that it turns non‑Christians into converts, converts into disciples, and disciples into mature, fruitful leaders who will in turn go into the world and reach others for Christ.

Lakewood Community Church

A place to Connect, Grow, & Serve

Connect

Families grow up together in communities. We meet people where they are and do life together — Sundays, Wednesdays, and every day in between.

Grow

From Sunday School to Wednesday prayer, we hold fast to the doctrine, spirit, and discipline of our faith — growing deep roots together.

Serve

A changed heart can't sit still. We carry Christ's love out of the sanctuary and into our neighborhoods — near and far.

Our Story

Rooted on Clarks Mill Road since 1939

In 1939, a small group of Christians living in the Lakewood Community became aware of the great need for a place of worship. For a short period of time, services were held in a home.

Realizing the interest in building a church, the group appointed a building committee and began raising funds for a building program. That was the beginning of our ministry as a church — and we continue to grow today.

Today

Generations later, Lakewood keeps connecting, growing, and serving — in person on Clarks Mill Road and live on Facebook.

I am not afraid that the people called Methodists should ever cease to exist either in Europe or America. But I am afraid lest they should only exist as a dead sect, having the form of religion without the power. And this undoubtedly will be the case unless they hold fast both the doctrine, spirit, and discipline with which they first set out.

— John Wesley, Evangelist

What We Believe

Four primary values, one clear message

In order to keep the heart of God’s message clear, and the church’s mission strong and vital, we continually center on four primary values.

  • People

  • Faith
  • Outreach

The EMC works to make our communities a better place to live, meeting people where they are.
